Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday during a one-day visit to Romania that the two countries would work together on developing trade and tourism.

President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday invited Romanian business people to make investments in Turkey, but also the Turkish business people to invest in Romania.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday; their meeting at the Government's Victoria Palace lasted more than one hour, instead of the 15 minutes scheduled.

Several bilateral documents were signed in the presence of the two officials, after the meeting.

President Klaus Iohannis says he asked his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan to wait for the conclusions of a new feasibility study for the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Interconnection Link between Romania and Turkey; the two heads of state discussed this matter privately in Bucharest on Wednesday.

President Klaus Iohannis and his wife Carmen Iohannis welcomed the Turkish President and his wife.

Turkish Cypriots said on Monday they were suspending their gas exploration off the coast of Cyprus and that the Barbaros seismic vessel, whose presence within the Mediterranean island?s maritime zone caused Nicosia to pull out of peace talks last year, will soon return to Turkey.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed energy security and the future of energy projects in the region in a phone conversation.

Borisov and Erdogan also agreed on Tuesday to hold a meeting soon, with energy projects being a prominent topic on the agenda, according to the press office of the Bulgarian government.

Turkey and Azerbaijan will on Tuesday formally begin construction on a new gas pipeline costing over $10 billion which will pump gas from the vast Azerbaijani Shah Deniz 2 field across Anatolia to Turkish and EU consumers.

 The Turkish government has unexpectedly taken its controversial homeland security bill out of parliament and sent it back to a committee for further revision in a possible concession to the opposition, the official Anatolia news agency reported on March 13.
