The Bucharest-hosted George Enescu International Music Festival has been nominated for the first time for an International Opera Award 2020 to reflect the increasingly sustained promotion of opera in the festival's events.

The Athens Concert Hall is hosting a live broadcast of Richard Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde" from New York's Metropolitan Opera on Saturday, October 8. The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra is led by Sir Simon Rattle while the cast features Nina Stemme (Isolde), Ekaterina Gubanova (Brangane), Stuart Skelton (Tristan), Evgeny Nikitin (Kurwenal) and Rene Pape (King Marke).
