Vintage cars show racy past of Iran’s toppled royalty
Before they were ousted by the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran's royal family enjoyed a lavish lifestyle with a taste for fast cars quite unlike any ever built.
Now, after half a century hidden away, the royal racers are back on show, with the Iran Historical Car Museum drawing in thousands since it opened to the public in recent weeks.

A walking stick with a length of 92 centimeters, which is said to have been gifted to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, by Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran of the time, will be sold at auction.

Iran needs a unifying voice in opposition and “I am that voice,” said Reza Pahlavi, last heir to the overthrown Pahlavi Dynasty, which opposes the Islamic Republic of Iran from exile. Pahlavi has also expressed support for a parliamentary democracy in Iran amid demonstrations that have spread across the country creating political turmoil.
