Rosen Plevneliev Urges Prompt Energy Sector Reforms

Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev urged prompt reforms of the country's energy sector, first thing after the elections next week.

In an interview for the bTV national channel, Plevneliev warned that unless the reforms are carried out immediately, the country might face "dramatic consequences, including bankruptcy".

Bulgaria Vows Support for Deinstitutionalization Efforts of UNICEF

President Rosen Plevneliev has assured that Bulgaria will continue to support the UNICEF mission aimed at deinstitutionalization in the child care system.

Plevneliev expressed Bulgaria's stance at a meeting with Anthony Lake, the Executive Director of UNICEF, according to the press office of the President.

Bulgaria Will Not Participate In Anti-IS Coalition

Bulgaria does not and will not participate in the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS) and the matter is not discussed by the government, said caretaker Defence Minister Velizar Shalamanov, quoted by Mediapool.bg.

According to him, Bulgaria had limited combat abilities and the air force does not have the equipment to participate in air strikes with such intensity.
