Erdoğan talks with Gulf leader to resolve crisis

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan finalized yesterday ar two-day tour to Gulf countries in Doha, his last destition, on July 24, aimed at defusing a dispute between Qatar and neighbouring Arab states.

Erdoğan was greeted by Qatari ruler Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Doha ahead of their first face-to-face talks on the Gulf crisis.  

Saudi Arabia says Turkish military base is 'not needed'

Saudi Arabia has said a Turkish military base similar to that built in neighbouring Qatar would not be welcome in the kingdom, insisting it is "not needed."

The June 17 statement came after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reportedly said he had offered to build a military base in the Muslim kingdom shortly after work began on Turkey's facility in Qatar.

Erdoğan urges Saudi king to solve Qatar row

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has urged Saudi Arabian King Salman, the elder statesman in the Gulf region, to take the lead in resolving the ongoing crisis over Qatar.

"I think that as the elder statesman of the Gulf, the king of Saudi Arabia should solve this affair and show leadership," Erdoğan told members of his party in parliament on June 13.
