Christie's has announced the Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds including Oriental Rugs and Carpets, a live auction at Christie's on April 27. The sale features striking examples of manuscripts, paintings, ceramics, metalwork, and carpets.

Inquiry launched over Istanbul Municipality’s Mehmed the Conqueror portrait
The Istanbul Governor's Office has launched an inquiry into a portrait of Ottoman Emperor Mehmet the Conqueror, which the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had bought in an auction in London for $1.1 million, after allegations that the painting could be fake.
Ottoman sultan's portrait to be sold in London
A portrait of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II, known as Fatih Sultan Mehmet in Turkish, will be put up for auction in London on June 25.
Thought to be drawn by Italian painter Gentile Bellini in 1480, it is expected to fetch $500,000-$740,000 and will be sold at the world-famous Christie's auction house.

Quran manuscript sold by Christie's
A Quran manuscript, written by Mahmut Celaleddin in the second half of the 18th century and owned by Sultan Abdulaziz, was sold for 540,000 pounds at the Islamic artworks auction, which was held on Oct. 8 in London by Christie?s.
