'Breaking Bad' actor Mark Margolis dies at 83

Mark Margolis, who played the sinister, wheelchair-bound cartel don Hector Salamanca in acclaimed TV shows "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," has died aged 83, his family said on Aug. 4.

Margolis died on Aug. 3 at a New York hospital following a short illness, with his wife and son at his bedside, according to a statement.

Inscription of name from Bible discovered

Israel's antiquities authority says archaeologists have discovered a rare 3,000-year-old inscription of a name mentioned in the Bible.

The name "Eshbaal Ben Beda" appears on a large ceramic jar. Eshbaal of the Bible was a son of King Saul.

Archaeologists Yosef Garfinkel and Saar Ganor say the jar belonged to a different Eshbaal, likely the owner of an agricultural estate.

Lanthimos picks up Prix du Jury award at Cannes for ‘The Lobster’

Up-and-coming Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos won the third-place Prix du Jury (jury prize) at the Cannes Film Festival for the “The Lobster”, his first English-language film starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz.

The top Palme d’Or award went to Jacques Audiard’s immigrant drama Dheepan in what international media described as a “shocker”.

Cannes Film Festival's line-up announced, three films to come

The Cannes Film Festival?s organizers on April 16 unveiled the list of 17 movies to be shown next month in the Palme d?Or competition line-up. Turkish director Ziya Demirel?s film ?Sal?? (Tuesday) is set to compete in the short film category of the festival. 

The rundown is not yet complete, with a couple of movies yet to be added before the 11-day festival opens on May 13.
