"Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" - the unlikely pair of films that dominated the box office and spawned countless internet memes this summer - topped the newly revamped Golden Globes nominations on Dec. 11.

The new Taylor Swift concert movie held on to the top spot in North American theaters this weekend, but history-based crime epic "Killers of the Flower Moon" had an impressive debut, the best for a Martin Scorsese film since 2010.

The Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off today, is such a colossal extravaganza that taking measure of its ups and downs is notoriously difficult. It's a showcase of the world's best cinema. But by at least some metrics, Cannes, following a canceled 2020 festival, a much-diminished 2021 edition and a triumphant 2022 return, is finally all the way back.
