Russia says it might use force to cease-fire violators in Syria

Russia on March 21 warned the United States that it will start responding to cease-fire violations in Syria unilaterally starting March 22 if the U.S. refuses to coordinate rules of engagement against the violators. A U.S. official contended the issues were being discussed "in a constructive manner."

Russia deploys largest air defense ships near Turkish waters

Russian General Staff has deployed one of its largest air defense ships at the foot of Turkish territorial waters in the Mediterranean, in a move to revise security measures after a Russian SU-24 was downed by Turkish aircrafts.

According to Russian RIA Novosti agency, Russian General Staff boosted security measures after the recent incident.

The Turkish military downed the Russian Su-24 jet after it violated its air space for 17 seconds according to information that came to light at the emergency NATO meeting. In Brussels, NATO officials were concerned that Turkey did not show more restraint. Reuters reports:

One Russian pilot killed, other returned to Russia airbase in Syria

One of two pilots aboard a Russian warplane shot down by Turkey on Nov. 24 was killed by gunfire while parachuting from the burning plane. Meanwhile, the other pilot was picked up by the Syrian Army and returned to Russia's airbase in Syria, both Russian military and Russia's ambassador to France have confirmed.
