New Zealand’s opposition National Party installed its first Maori leader Feb. 27, selecting 41-year-old former lawyer Simon Bridges for the top job as it looks to reinvigorate its image after losing last year’s “Jacinda-mania” election.

New Zealand is considering restrictions on laptops and other large electronic devices on flights from some Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East, the country's prime minister said on April 24.

The new rules would follow similar measures introduced last month by the United States, Britain and Australia.

Fast food giant Domino's is to trial pizza delivery robots in New Zealand, it said March 18, describing the hi-tech, driverless units as a world first.

In a move enthusiastically backed by the New Zealand government, Domino's said it was working with authorities on plans to roll out its DRU (Domino's Robotic Unit).
