Minister: Schools employ 1,000 more teachers than they need
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Srdjan Verbic says there are "around 1,000 teachers more than Serbian schools need."
"They can count on severance payments, as there is now enough money in the budget," Verbic has been quoted as saying by Tanjug.

Council for National Minorities holds constitutive session
BELGRADE - The Council for National Minorities on Wednesday held a constitutive session, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovicki.

Teachers' unions end strike action
BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Education Srdjan Verbic and representatives of two teachers' unions signed a deal to resolve outstanding issues and a special collective agreement for employees in primary and secondary schools and dormitories, which marked an end to a five-month teachers' strike action on Friday.

Serbia has surplus of 10,000 teaching staff members
BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Education Srdjan Verbic stated that Serbia has a surplus of 10,000 teaching staff members and added that there is no way to reassign them all.
"The exact figure will come from statisticians, but we will have to begin the next school year with an optimised number of employees," Verbic told the Belgrade-based daily Blic.
