New lighting system befitting of Poseidon

The official ceremony of the modern illumination of the ancient Temple of Poseidon on Cape Sounio took place on Monday evening to the imposing melodies of Greek composer Stavros Xarchakos.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the presence of Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and guests from Greece and abroad.

Marking 19 years since her death, the Instagram profile of photographer Kleisthenis Daskalakos shared for the first time a black-and-white photo from his personal archive. The image captures a meeting of Viky Mosholiou with Grigoris Bithikotsis, Stamatis Kokotas, and Stavros Xarchakos.

With tickets having sold out on the nights announced to date, composer and conductor Stavros Xarchakos has added more to his run of shows focused on laiko composers at Gazarte in downtown Athens. Xarchakos will conduct a seven-member orchestra of top soloists who will also accompany him on vocals.
