EU welcomes Belgrade Pride Parade

BRUSSELS - EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele welcomed on Sunday the Belgrade Pride Parade and condemned the threats to the LGBT population coming from right-wing organisations.

The EU commends Serbia's security forces, who protected the participants of the Parade, a statement from Fuele's office reads.

Fuele: First two chapters may open by end of year

NEW YORK - EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele believes that there is a chance for Brussels and Belgrade to cross an important threshold before the year ends and to open the first two of 35 policy chapters which Serbia must address to join the EU.

"I think we still believe that would be possible before the end of this year," Fuele said in an interview for Wall Street Journal.

Dacic to attend Conference on Western Balkans on Thursday

Joint foreign policy a must for joining EU

BELGRADE - Serbia's EU accession talks are progressing well, but Belgrade will have to comply with the joint foreign policy at the time of joining the EU, says Peter Stano, spokesperson of EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele.

Since the start of Serbia's accession talks with the EU, 18 out of 35 chapters have been subject to analytical screening, Stano said.

Fule Urges Solidarity at Flood Aid Conference

The EU Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fuele, called on the international donors' conference, which opened in Brussels on Wednesday, to show solidarity when pledging assistance to flood-hit Bosnia and Serbia.

"I hope we can use this moment of solidarity to help ensure that the countries of this region never have to endure the same destruction as we witnessed in May," he said.

BRUSSELS - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) Bakir Izetbegovic before the beginning of the donor conference in Brussels on Wednesday.
