A 7-year-old boy was struck by a bus in Sunny Beach last night, reports BNR. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the "Continental" bus stop. The bus, a "MAN" with Sofia plates, was driven by a 65-year-old man who hit the child while he was crossing the road for reasons that remain unclear.

The parliamentary elections in Bulgaria have a long and storied history, dating back to the country's liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878. The first elections in the nascent nation were held on September 30 and October 7, 1879, to elect members of the First Ordinary National Assembly.

As Bulgaria heads to the polls this Sunday, June 6, widespread concerns about vote-buying and electoral fraud loom over the nation. These apprehensions echo the historical challenges the country has faced in establishing a fair and transparent democratic process.

New rules, restrictions and sanctions for the use of scooters and electric scooters in Sofia are proposed in amendments to the "Ordinance on the organization of traffic on the territory of the Capital Municipality". They will be submitted by the chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, Georgi Georgiev, and published for public discussion.

The 20 BGN banknotes from 2005 will be removed from circulation from February 1 and will no longer be legal tender. After this date, banknotes with a nominal value of BGN 20, 2005 issue, will be exchanged at the cash desks of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) at nominal value without limit of quantity, without fee and without deadline for exchange.

On April 20, 1876, the April Uprising broke out in Koprivshtitsa, thanks to which Bulgaria appeared on the map of Europe.

The decision to launch the uprising was taken by the Giurgiu Revolutionary Committee, the Bulgarian lands were divided into 5 revolutionary districts - the first Tarnovo, the second Sliven, the third Vratsa, the fourth Plovdiv and the fifth Sofia.

Bulgaria marks the 165 anniversary since the birth of one of the country's most important political figures, Stefan Stambolov.

Wreaths were laid at Stambolov's monuments in his native city of Veliko Tarnovo and in the capital Sofia.
