German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Iraqi Kurdish President Massud Barzani have agreed that Turkey must continue the Kurdish peace process despite escalating violence, Berlin said July 29.

Steinmeier told a joint press conference with his Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati, in Berlin that Albania's call for an international probe was justified.

"Last week's incident scared Europe. We hope the situation will not escalate and the authorities in Macedonia will make efforts towards a full and transparent investigation," he said. 

German support, requirements remain

BERLIN -- Germany will support Serbia on its path to the EU but will not relax its requirements on that road, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Monday.
