PM Mitsotakis to herald easing of measures at 6 p.m. on Tuesday

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is to announce the easing of measures put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus in a speech to the nation on Tuesday at a 6 p.m., government spokesman Stelios Petsas said. 

The announcement is to be followed by separate briefings by different ministers, he said.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will on Tuesday announce a plan for the gradual easing of restrictions put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus from early May, government spokesman Stelios Petsas said on Monday.

In comments to Skai television channel, Petsas said the gradual phasing out of the measures would begin in early May and end in late June.

Greece extends lockdown until May 4

Greece will extend measures taken to stem the spread of the coronavirus in the country by one week to May 4 from April 27, government spokesman Stelios Petsas announced Thursday.
He said the new plan on how to gradually recall some of the restrictions will be announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, early next week, possibly on Monday (April 27).

Firebomb attack on Kathimerini, Skai building

The offices of Kathimerini and Skai TV and radio were hit with two firebombs early Saturday, but damage was minor.

According to police, four people approached the building, threw the two firebombs and fled.

One of the two firebombs exploded in the courtyard and the other hit a first floor balcony, causing minor damage.

Faster testing will help efforts to relax lockdown measures, says Mitsotakis during visit to EKEA

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday visited the National Center for Blood Donation (EKEA) which was recently equipped with molecular diagnostic systems for Covid-19.

The three cobas 8800 systems, made by Swiss diagnostics maker Roche, can test patients about 10 times faster than the company's previous test for the coronavirus.
