Bulgaria's Energy Watchdog Foresees Power Price Hike in 2015

The Chair of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) Svetla Todorova announced that an increase in the price of electricity was unavoidable during the year.

Todorova assured that the anticipated hike will not happen in April, but she specified neither a concrete date nor the amount by which the price will increase, daily Dnevnik reports.

The sale of shares from companies of the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) is foreseen in the medium term.

This is still at the stage of conception, as becomes clear from a document of the Energy Ministry, investor.bg reports.

The idea for listing part of the shares of the state energy companies at the stock exchange emerged in 2009, but later faded.

Svetla Todorova, Chair of Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR), has assured that the Energy Ministry is doing its best to adopt short-term measures aimed at preventing an increase in power rates in April.

Todorova, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, informed Thursday that the measures were to be adopted by end-March.
