Greece beat Finland 2-0 away on Sunday, only to miss out on winning its UEFA Nations League group to England due to its inferior head-to-head record.

The Greek national football team continued its impressive streak in the Nations League on Sunday evening, defeating Ireland 2-0 and maintaining its undefeated record.

Two second-half goals extended Greece's perfect record after four games in the UEFA Nations League, for a 2-0 victory against Ireland on Sunday in front of a capacity and vocal crowd at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus.

The result means Greece has mathematically sealed a top-two finish in the group, and it remains at the top three points ahead of England.

The men's national soccer team ended the season with a 2-0 friendly win over Malta on Tuesday after a rather mediocre performance in Austria.

Greek soccer international Tasos Bakasetas arrived in Athens on Monday night to complete his transfer to Panathinaikos, which is coached by Turkish coach Fatih Terim. 

Bakasetas, who was signed from Turkish club Trabzonspor, told reporters that "it was hard to say goodbye to Trabzonspor."

Greece maintained its hopes of making the top two of its Euro 2024 qualifying group with a 2-1 win at home against Ireland on Friday.

This was the Greek national team's second win in as many games, after the victory at Gibraltar, in a group that also includes France and the Netherlands.
