Bulgaria's Energy Minister To Discuss Belene Payment in Moscow

Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova is travelling to Moscow to discuss the forthcoming steps concerning the fulfillment of the decision of the Arbitration Court on the Belene nuclear power plant.

In June, Bulgaria was sentenced to pay EUR 620 M for equipment ordered from Russia. The daily interest is EUR 167,000.

Bulgaria Sending Deputy Energy Min to World Congress

Bulgaria will be represented at a deputy ministerial level at the World Energy Congress, a key global event, on Monday.

Deputy Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov will attend the 23th edition of the congress that is being held in Istanbul, his institution has said.

Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, however, is also added to the list of speakers.

Bulgaria to Study Options for Azerbaijani Gas Supplies - Energy Min

Bulgarian and Azerbaijani officials are set to discuss the prospects for gas deliveries at an intergovernmental session on Thursday and Friday, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has said.

Petkova will not be attending the discussions, with Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski heading the delegation.

Bulgaria Doesn't Appeal Arbitration Ruling over Atomstroyexport Debt

The Bulgarian government announced it didn't appeal the arbitration ruling that obliged it to pay nearly EUR 630 M to Russian company Atomstroyexport for equipment made for an abandoned nuclear plant project.

Late on Wednesday, it sent a statement citing White and Case, an international law firm working with governments, companies and financial institutions.

Cyprus Eyes Bulgaria as Part of Plans to Transit Gas to Europe

Bulgaria is among the countries that Cyprus could work with to deliver gas to Europe, Cyprus' Energy Minister Georgios Lakkotrypis has said.

At a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Temenuzhka Petkova in Sofia, he has discussed possibilities for energy cooperation between the two countries.
