Comeback win for Greece against Bulgaria offsets Latvia loss
Greece's national basketball team made up for its shock loss to Latvia on Friday with a comeback win against Bulgaria on Sunday at the Eurobasket qualifiers, to all but qualify to the next round of the tournament.
In the second "window" of qualifiers for the national teams, that saw Greece join the "Sarajevo bubble", the national team missed many first- and second-choice players.
Greece tops its Eurobasket qualification group
Greece made it two out of two in the Eurobasket 2021 qualifiers using players who are not involved in the Euroleague or the NBA, and is looking good to qualify from its group of four.
On Friday Greece defeated visiting Bulgaria 73-63 in Patra, in what was arguably its easiest game in the pool, before defeating Bosnia Herzegovina on Monday 70-65 at Tuzla.

Greece through to second round, faces USA on Saturday

The national team had to work hard to beat the Tall Blacks, but did so with a 103-97 score, becoming the last team to make the 16-team field for the second round of the FIBA World Cup. Greece struggles to beat Great Britain in WC qualifiers
Greece's national basketball team had to work hard to beat Great Britain 75-70 at Iraklio and preserve its perfect record in its World Cup qualifying group.
The players of coach Thanassis Skourtopoulos were challenged all the way by the Brits, who led by eight (15-7 and 33-25) in the first half that ended 46-39 in the visitors' favor.

Sports Digest: Petrounias favorite for Worlds gold
GYMNASTICS: Olympian Lefteris Petrounias made it six out of six this year in the rings winning at the Challenge Cup in Paris with what he claimed was a performance equal to what gave him the gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics last year. He has remained unbeaten since and is the favorite for gold in the upcoming World Championship.
