Rarely seen Van Gogh sells for over 13 mln euros
One of the few paintings by Vincent Van Gogh still in private hands, "Street Scene in Montmartre," was sold for over 13 million euros on March 25 at auction after going on public display for the first time this week, Sotheby's said.

Rarely seen Van Gogh painting exhibited ahead of auction
A rare painting by Dutch impressionist master Vincent van Gogh of a street scene in the Parisian neighborhood of Montmartre will be publicly displayed for the first time before its auction next month.
Sotheby's auction house said the work, painted in 1887, has remained in the same family collection for more than 100 years out of the public eye.

For decades the bright-eyed boy in the photograph was believed to be the legendary artist Vincent Van Gogh at the age of 13. But experts revealed Nov. 29 that the picture is most likely not the Dutch "Sunflowers" painter but his brother Theo, who was 15 at the time.

Van Gogh Ear Replica Displayed in German Museum
Karlsruhe's Center for Art and Media is exhibiting a genetic copy of the left ear of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, which he cut off in 1888.
Museum officials are quoted by the Huffington Post Germany as saying the genetic "reconstruction" was created by Diemut Strebe, who used cells of an heir to Van Gogh, namely his brother's great-great-grandson, Theo.
