Bulgarian Speaker of Parliament Talks With Talat Jaferi at the National Assembly

National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva spoke with her colleague from the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Macedonia Talat Xhaferi, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

He is in Bulgaria on the occasion of the vote in the National Assembly on the bill for ratification of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty of Accession of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

The New Session of the National Assembly Began

Traditionally, the first session of the National Assembly was opened with the Bulgarian and EU anthems. Parliamentary groups are due to come up with declarations for the new political season.

National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva wished the MPs a full and effective parliamentary activity, which is part of the efforts to ensure the prosperity of the country and its citizens.

"Bulgarian Christmas" Charity Campaign Gathered nearly BGN 2 Million

The charity initiative "Bulgarian Christmas" in support of children with severe diseases and disabilities continues. Almost 2 million leva has reached the amount raised to date for the 16th edition of the campaign after the end of the charity performance, which took place on Christmas Day in the Ivan Vazov National Theater, the press office of the presidency announced.

Nassional Assembly Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva is Visiting Finland

A parliamentary delegation led by National Assembly Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva will be on an official visit to the Republic of Finland, reported the Bulgarian National Radio. 

Bulgarian parliamentarians will talk with the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Finnish Parliament.

There is also a meeting with His Eminence Leo, archbishop of Helsinki and all of Finland.

Bulgarian Parliament to Discuss Stricter Punishments For Domestic Violence

Up to 5 years in prison for psychological harassment and persecution in the context of domestic violence. This includes amendments to the Penal Code that will be discussed in National Assembly today, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

Harassment outside the family will be punished by imprisonment for up to one year or probation.

Iran Urges Establishment of Joint Fund with Bulgaria to Boost Trade Cooperation

TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's parliament speaker has called for setting up a joint fund with Bulgaria to boost bilateral trade, Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.

Ali Larijani made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart on the sidelines of a conference of Eurasian states' parliaments in Turkey's Antalya.
