Bulgaria Arrests Norwegian Suspected of Terrorism Links

The arrests were announced by Norway's police on Wednesday and then confirmed by the Bulgarian authorities. 

Both detainees are Norwegian citizens. One arrest took place in Oslo, Norway, while the other was in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. The arrest in Bulgaria was done on a warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Norway.

Two employees of SANS (State Agency for National Security) at the middle management level and an employee of a Bulgarian Ministry but not of the Ministry of Interior, are the subject of investigations for espionage in favor of the Russian Federation after yesterday's two operations of SANS and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office. However, the three Bulgarians were not detained.

Worth of Heroin Shipment Ceased in Sliven Estimated at BGN 25 M

Speaking at a briefing in Sofia on Monday, head of the specialized prosecution service, Valentina Madjarova, said that the worth of nearly 500 kilos of heroin ceased during a raid in the southern city of Sliven on June 4 is estimated at BGN 25 million. Two persons, who are Turkish nationals, were detained in the raid. The two, whom the court remanded in custody, have no criminal record.

The specialized prosecutor's office has indicted four persons  for participating in an organized criminal group for making and distributing counterfeit dollars and euros and Bulgarian ID documents. The accused have been previously detained during a police operation in January 2020.
