Vassilis Grivas

A police source told Kathimerini Thursday that the murder of Vassilis Grivas, the 47-year-old shot dead outside a school in Glyka Nera, northeast of Athens, was most likely a contract killing.

Police investigating the execution-style shooting of a man outside his son's school in an eastern Athenian suburb on Wednesday believe the incident to be linked to rivalry between extortion rackets in the Greek capital.

A known to the police man was assassinated and one woman was wounded after an attack by armed men this morning at Glyka Nera, Athens.

The man, Vassilis Grivas, had just dropped off his son to school when the hit-men fired their guns against him killing him on the spot.
