USR asks Senate to speed up Ombudsman appointment; proposes Peter Eckstein-Kovacs, endorsed by PNL and PMP

Save Romania Union (USR) Senators' leader Adrian Wiener asked Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu on Thursday to initiate the procedures for the Ombudsman appointment, USR's proposal for this office, also endorsed by the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the People's Movement Party (PMP), being Peter Eckstein-Kovacs.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFP) informed that the cost free phone line TelVerde opened in support of the Romanian families of the Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip has been closed. According to a press release on Monday sent to AGERPRES, any further requests for consular assistance will have to be addressed to the Directorate for Consular Relations.

Over 50 candidates vying for 8 MP seats in May 25 parliamentary by-elections

The over 50 candidates in the race for eight seats of senators and deputies in the vacated colleges, have tried to convince the electors they deserve their vote in the May 25 Romanian parliamentary by-elections.

The election campaign for the parliamentary by-elections ends at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
