The proceedings of the Regional Prosecutor's Office - Rousse court proceedings in the murder case of the TV presenter from Rousse - Victoria Marinova ended in a first instance court with a conviction.

European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, welcomes the swift and intensive efforts by Prime Minister Borissov and the Bulgarian authorities who in close cooperation with law enforcement agencies from other EU Member States successfully arrested the suspected murderer of journalist Victoria Marinova, reports BNT. 

A 21-year-old called Severin Krassimirov has been detained in Germany and named as the prime suspect for the murder of the TV host Victoria Marinova – whose brutal slaying in Ruse has attracted international condemnation.

The European Commission and the German government have joined a number of international journalism organizations in condemning - and calling for an independent investigation into - the killing of Victoria Marinova, a local TV journalist in the town of Ruse, northern Bulgaria.

Victoria Marinova, the 30-year-old TV host and administrative director of the regional TV channel TVN, was found murdered on Saturday near the Danube river bank in the northern Bulgarian town of Ruse, police said on Sunday.
