SKOPJE - The EU has reopened the accession process for Western Balkan countries and a strategy for the region will be presented in February, European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport Violeta Bulc said Monday at the Skopje Summit100 of business leaders from southeast Europe.

The region's membership perspective is more tangible than ever, she said.

TRIESTE - The Transport Community Treaty, to be signed in Trieste on Wednesday, is hugely important for Serbia, says Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic.

After meeting with European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc in Trieste, Mihajlovic said the treaty offered the possibility of a single transport market and development in the region.

European Commissioner Johannes Hahn, who oversees EU membership bids, will pay a visit to Turkey on July 6 as part of a re-engagement decision made by parties during a meeting between EU officials and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 25. 

European Union Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc will discuss transport investment in the Balkan country on March 23-24, during a conference in Sofia, which brings together public and private institutions involved in transport financing and planning, New Europe reports.

A regional conference to promote investments in the transport sector is held today in the Bulgarian capital city, announced from BNR.

The conference is under the auspices of the European Commission and the Ministry of Transport and with the participation of European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc.

BELGRADE - The project documentation for the motorway connecting Nis, Merdare and Pristina will be done in early 2017, with construction itself slated to be completed by 2020, Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Construction and Transport Zorana Mihajlovic said Tuesday.
