President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan convened a security meeting late on Oct. 24 in Istanbul after a terror attack in the capital Ankara killed five people and injured 22 others, security sources said. 

Athens' interest in boosting the Western Balkans' European integration prospects and particularly those of Serbia - the largest and most influential country in the region - was underscored by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit to Belgrade on Wednesday evening, during which he and his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, attended a dinner hosted by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

This afternoon, three armed individuals, including a woman, launched a surprise attack on the entrance of Türkiye’s Aerospace Industry Academy. According to preliminary information from the country’s Interior Ministry and a statement from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, five people have lost their lives, while 14 others are hospitalized in the Turkish capital.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday discussed bilateral ties in the Russian city of Kazan, the site of a summit of the BRICS group of countries.

During the meeting, Erdoğan and Maduro spoke about bilateral relations and regional and global issues, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said in a statement.

The leaders have made a call for a ceasefire in Gaza, BRICS countries, including Presidents of China’s Xi Jinping, Russia Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but, perhaps most importantly, they discussed an alternative, non-Western payment system.

Speaking in person, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday offered condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over a terrorist attack in the capital Ankara that has taken the lives of four people.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the deadly terrorist attack on the facilities of the aerospace and defense company TUSAŞ in Ankara on Oct. 23 during the BRICS meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia's Kazan province.

"We have four martyrs and 14 wounded. I condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish mercy on our martyrs," Erdoğan said. 

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Oct. 23 an attack on the premises of the Turkish aerospace and defense company TUSAŞ left four dead and 14 injured.

The construction of new power plants and a gas hub in Turkey will be part of talks that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold on Wednesday with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Russia's RIA news agency reported.
