At least 500 hectares of land destroyed in Çanakkale wildfire
Raging wildfires in several provinces, notably in the southern cities of Hatay and Mersin, have been taken under control after two days of strenuous efforts, while at least 500 hectares of land have been reduced to ashes in the fire in the northwestern city of Çanakkale.
1.5 mln houses under quake risk: Minister
In an effort to mitigate destruction in the event of a potential Marmara earthquake, around 1.5 million houses, with 600,000 classified as very urgent, require immediate renovation, according to Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Mehmet Özhaseki.

Cap on rent hike to be extended, says justice minister
The government is considering extending a 25 percent cap on rent hikes, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has said.
"Works [on the cap] are ongoing. We are hoping to finalize the respective regulations by July 1," Tunç told reporters following the ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) central decision and executive board meeting.
Vice President, ministers take oath at parliament
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and the ministers of the new cabinet of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have taken oath at the parliament to officially start their job.
Yılmaz and the ministers came to the parliament to take oath on June 7 after taking over their jobs from their predecessors.

MPs call for blood donation to Red Crescent
Many lawmakers from several political parties have made a joint call for blood donations to the Turkish Red Crescent, as the blood stocks have recently fallen below the critical level.
Though the country needs an average of 10,000 units of blood per day, blood donation has decreased by half amid the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the recent quake disaster.

Parliamentary commission to probe deadly dormitory fire in Turkey's Adana
