Krunic suffers early exit in Rabat

RABAT - Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic has suffered an early exit from the Rabat WTA tournament after losing 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) to Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova in the first round on Tuesday.

Krunic will continue her Rabat campaign with her doubles partner, Daria Gavrilova of Australia.

Zimonjic through to US Open mixed doubles semis

NEW YORK - Serbian tennis player Nenad Zimonjic and his doubles partner Yung Jan Chan of Taiwan are through to the US Open mixed doubles semi-finals after beating the Brazilian-Kazakhstani duo of Bruno Soares and Yaroslava Shvedova 1-6, 6-3, 13-11 late Tuesday.

Zimonjic and Chan will next face the Croatian-German pairing of Mate Pavic and Laura Siegemund.

Tennis: Sorana Cirstea qualifies for quarterfinals of doubles event at tournament in Bogota (WTA)

Romanian woman tennis player Sorana Cirstea and Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova on Monday qualified for the quarterfinals of the doubles WTA tournament in Bogota (Columbia), equipped with total prizes worth 250,000 US dollars, after defeating No. 2 seed Mandy Minella (Luxembourg)/Olga Savciuk (Ukraine), 7-5, 6-2.

Ivanovic loses to Lisicki

LONDON - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic failed to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon by losing to Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on Monday.

The match was interrupted twice - first due to darkness on Sunday, and then due to rain on Monday.

Jelena Jankovic reaches Indian Wells 4th round

INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic reached the fourth round of the Masters 1000 Series tennis tournament in Indian Wells early Monday by beating Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-3, 6-2.

In her next match, Jankovic will face Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, who beat Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 7-6 (9-7), 3-6, 6-1.
