New vouchers redeemable from today
Ljubljana – Starting from Friday, all Slovenian residents can benefit from a new batch of government-sponsored vouchers, which unlike the holiday-at-home vouchers issued last year, can be redeemed for a variety of services and goods, including textbooks for schoolchildren.

No more free rapid testing, as vaccinated, tested, convalescents to get more concessions
Ljubljana – Slovenia will enable those who have been vaccinated against Covid, have recovered from it or have been tested to have as few restrictions in public life as possible, while rapid tests will be no longer be free of charge from mid-August, PM Janez Janša said on Thursday as he urged vaccination together with the other coalition leaders.
Businesses feel latest stimulus package falls short
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s largest business chambers have said the latest stimulus package for tourism, worth EUR 243 million and passed by the National Assembly on Wednesday, does not meet expectations and would not sufficiently help sectors most badly affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
MPs pass stimulus package for tourism
Ljubljana – The National Assembly passed on Wednesday an emergency bill worth EUR 243.5 million to help the embattled tourism sector. The short-time work scheme has been extended and new holiday vouchers introduced. The opposition warned that the measures, which are this time aimed at the most affected sectors, came too late and were insufficient.

Conference on innovation highlights importance of cooperation
Ljubljana – Cooperation is the key to boosting innovation, agreed the participants at the Pan-European Innovation Ecosystem international conference, organised at the start of Slovenia’s EU presidency. There were also calls for cooperation between businesses and academia.
Positive examples of Slovenian-Chinese business cooperation discussed
Ljubljana – The Slovenian-Chinese Business Council hosted on Tuesday a debate on opportunities of international companies in Slovenia in Chinese or mixed ownership and the experience of their Slovenian managers, who said that the experience was a positive one despite certain challenges.
Slovenia to cooperate with Italian space agency
Rome – Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek signed a letter of intent on cooperation in spacial activities for peaceful purposes with the Italian Space Agency as part of a two-day visit to Italy. He also met Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti with the pair calling for boosting economic cooperation.

EUR 243 million stimulus package for tourism confirmed
Ljubljana – The government has passed an emergency law to help the embattled tourism sector. The package is worth EUR 243.5 million, with new tourist vouchers accounting for the bulk of new spending. Businesses think the aid falls short.
Marjan Dikaučič appointed new justice minister
Ljubljana – Marjan Dikaučič, an official receiver, has become Slovenia’s new justice minister after the National Assembly voted 44:41 in favour on Tuesday. He succeeds Lilijana Kozlovič, who resigned due to the government’s decision to suspend the appointment of Slovenia’s members of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Slovenia preparing strong business programme for Dubai Expo
Ljubljana – Slovenia will focus on three segments at the Dubai Expo this year: know-how, economic opportunities, and unique sustainable experiences. Its showcase will go beyond the pavilion and a strong business programme is planned, Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek told the press on Tuesday.
