The appointment of Council of State head Zerrin Güngör's daughter Gonca Hatinoğlu as an investigative judge at the Court of Cassation has drawn criticism, amid opposition claims of rising "nepotism" in the Turkish state.

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has filed a complaint on Council of State head Zerrin Güngör to the council's board of directors, saying her remarks that criticized CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu "implicate the Council of State."

Turkey's main oppositional party is planning to take legal action against Zerrin Güngör, the head of the Council of State over her recent remarks targeting the Republican People's Party (CHP), which has long been complaining about judicial deficiencies in the country.

I listened very carefully to the speech of Zerrin Güngör, president of the Council of State (Danıştay). As in every long speech, there were both correct and questionable aspects. 

The anniversary of the Turkish Council of State (Dan??tay) was dodged with a low-profile ceremony this year. The ban on the press was just not appropriate for this high court. I would have personally wanted to listen to Dan??tay head Zerrin Güngör, hearing her voice, observing her actions. That was not possible; I only read her speech. 

Both President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and the head of Turkey?s Constitutional Court have denied there is any tension between them, after joining a luncheon hosted by the former at the presidential palace in Ankara.
