Zsolt Semjen

A conservative theologist, Semjen is leader of the Christian Democratic People's Party, the pseudo-coalition partner of Prime Minister Viktor Orban's governing Fidesz party. In his doctoral thesis, he famously called Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger "the devil".

Hungary on Thursday marked its national day with marches, parades, uniformed hussars and inaugurations of monuments dedicated to figures from the 1848 revolution and the war of independence against the Habsburg monarchy.

BUDAPEST -- By the end of the mandate of the current government, one million more people will be given Hungarian citizenship, Zsolt Semjen has said.

Semjen serves as deputy prime minister in charge of Hungary's national policy.

Members of the Hungarian government on Saturday voiced support for territorial autonomy for ethnic Hungarians in Romania, a day after Bucharest unexpectedly imposed an unprecedented entry ban on several Hungarian nationals accused of being extremists.
