Flying Broom Film Fest presents honorary awards

The 24th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival awarded the recipients of its honorary awards on June 4.

Actress Nur Sürer and actress-singer Zuhal Olcay received the honorary awards on June 4 at a ceremony held at the CerModern Arts Center in Ankara.

Films from 33 countries will be screened online for film enthusiasts until June 11 as part of the event.

Artists probed over film condemning impunity in Gezi victim's death

An investigation has been opened into the artists who appeared in a short film commemorating the one-year anniversary of the death of Berkin Elvan, a young Gezi protest victim.

The public prosecutor of the Istanbul Press Offences Bureau summoned the well-known figures, from musicians to actors, who performed on the short film over an alleged "abetment."

Complaint filed against 27 people who tweeted about Istanbul hostage crisis in Istanbul

A criminal complaint has been filed against 27 prominent figures, including main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu, journalists and celebrities, for comments made on social media about the police operation to end the March 31 hostage crisis at Istanbul's Ça?layan Courthouse, which ended with the death of a prosecutor and his two captors. 

Frankfurt Turkish Film Fest kicks off

The 14h Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival kicked off on Sept. 7 with a gala night in Frankfurt’s botanic garden, Palmengarten.

Speaking to press members before the opening, the festival’s committee chairman, Hüseyin Sıtkı, said nearly 40 films would be shown during the festival and various activities would be held.
