Russian pilot scoops water from zoo pond to douse fire, birds perished

A helicopter that scooped water from the pond of a zoo in central Anatolia to douse a nearby wildfire has caused the death of several birds.

The firefighting helicopter came from the southern province of Adana on Aug. 22 to help locals extinguish a fire spreading in the forests of Mount Ali in Kayseri province.

Patient’s relatives break doctor’s arm in Adana

The relatives of a patient have beaten a doctor and broken his arm in the emergency section of a hospital in Turkey's southern province of Adana.

An unidentified patient was brought to the emergency section of the Adana State Hospital by his relatives late on Aug. 17. The patient reportedly fell while walking after consuming a large amount of alcohol.

Six police officers removed from posts in wiretapping case

Six police officers, including two police chiefs, were removed from duty on July 25 as part of the ongoing wiretapping investigation in Turkey’s southern province of Adana.

Nine police officers, eight of whom are on active duty and one of whom is retired, were arrested as part of the investigation on April 8. All were released five days after their arrests.
