Mytilene’s iconic cafe comes alive through art

The reopening of an iconic venue, closed for two and a half years, was marked by the launch of a painting and engraving exhibition at the historic Panellinion cafe in Mytilene, capital of the island of Lesvos in the eastern Aegean. The event was organized by the Peri Technon Karteris gallery, author Nadia Liarelli and Piraeus Bank (owner of the property) on Friday.

Fire in Attica: The Municipality of Agia Paraskevi Opens Closed Gym for Fire Victims

As announced by the Municipality of Agia Paraskevi, following a decision by Mayor Yiannis Mylonakis, the closed gymnasium in Kontopouki (Dorieon 20 and Kanari) will be open from today and for as long as needed to assist in accommodating fire victims who have been displaced from their homes due to the severe wildfire in Attica and require temporary shelter.

Teen attacked by youngsters while walking dog

A 14-year-old boy told police that he was attacked by three teenagers while walking his dog in the district of Agia Paraskevi, northern Athens, on January 2. 

The victim said the youths searched him, forced him to walk barefoot in the street and beat him up, while one of them was filming the attack. The boy recognized one of the attackers is a fellow student in his school.
