Ministry refutes bed bug hoax in Athens’ Exarchia district
Greece's Health Ministry on Tuesday dismissed as a "complete lie" an announcement taped to several buildings in Athens' central Exarchia district warning of bed bug infestations.
The announcement appeared on Tuesday morning taped on various buildings along Harilaou Trikoupi and Komninon streets, as well as on Alexandras Avenue.

An open public tender was announced Thursday for the restoration of the building in Athens that will house the Maria Callas Academy of Lyrical Art.
Homeless in Athens get basic essentials for winter
Athens Municipality has started to distribute backpacks filled with basic essentials for the winter to homeless people in the city.
On Thursday evening, street work teams distributed backpacks to homeless people, each of which contained sleeping bags, blankets, jackets, water resistant trousers, thermos flasks, flashlights and whistles.

Annual Athens bike ride: Traffic restrictions on Sunday
The 27th Bicycle Ride of Athens will lead to traffic restrictions on Sunday, especially around Syntagma Square.
The annual ride is held by the Athens Municipality and consists of two routes, starting and ending at Syntagma: one 5km long (starts 11:15) and another 15km long (starts 10:00).
Center of Athens set to go car-free to make physical distancing easier
Cars will be banned from the historical center of Athens for three months from mid-June in order to provide more space to pedestrians in view of the need for physical distancing, according to a joint ministerial decision Friday.
City Hall takes care of vulnerable with ‘Help at Home Plus’

Off the Hook Festival | Athens | September 5 & 6
The Athens Municipality's Technopolis cultural complex will be hosting the city's first Off the Hook Festival on September 5 and 6. This celebration of hip-hop and other similar genres comprises a lineup of 23 Greek acts (including Social Waste, Lobo Amarillo and Sadomas) and foreign artists (such as Lady Leshurr, R.A. the Rugged Man and Snowgoons).

Ministry suspends new building licenses near Acropolis amid controversy
The Environment Ministry on Tuesday said that it is suspending all building licenses in the area around the Acropolis.
The decision comes in response to the construction of a 10-story building that has become the subject of a growing public protest campaign launched by residents of Athens's downtown Makriyianni neighborhood, who say it obstructs their view of the Parthenon.

Athens Municipality employee remanded on arson charges
A 64-year-old seasonal employee of the Athens Municipality was remanded in custody on Wednesday on charges of setting fires at children's camps in Athens and the wider Attica region.
The suspect, who was arrested last week, is accused of starting four fires at camps in the period from June 23 to 29.
