Highest temperature recorded as 47.9 in 2022
The hottest day in Türkiye in 2022 was on July 15 in the southeastern province of Şırnak's Silopi district at 47.9 degrees, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has said in its latest report.
The bureau published a report indicating meteorological extreme values of the province and districts in 2022.

Gazelle population growing in Turkey’s south after protection efforts
The number of goitered gazelles, facing the threat of extinction, has been increased in Turkey's southeastern province of Şanlıurfa following the efforts of local authorities.
The goitered gazelle population successfully increased to 668 up from 23 since the Directorate of Agricultural Management (TİGEM) in Ceylanpınar district put them under protection in 1977.
Military shipment arrives at Syrian border
A 12-vehicle military convoy, including armored vehicles carrying commando units and buses, arrived in the province's Ceylanpınar district as part of Turkey's recent military reinforcements along the border with Syria.
