34 detained in simultaneous ISIL operations in Turkey

A total of 34 people were detained in operations targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in four different provinces of Turkey on Nov. 10. 

Fourteen people were detained in the southern province of Adana after counter-terrorism police carried out simultaneous operations in the province's center.

Turkish Supreme Court reverses punishment of sexually abusive mother and partner

The Supreme Court of Appeals has reversed a judgment sentencing a woman and her partner to nine years and four months in jail after they attempted to force the former's eight-year-old daughter to have sexual intercourse with the latter.

In its ruling, the court argued that the plot did not go beyond the "preparation phase," daily Cumhuriyet has reported. 

Airbus to be sunk off Ku?adas? as tourism project

An Airbus A300 will be sunk in the Aegean Sea off Ku?adas? to serve as a reef and attract diving tourists in the resort town as part of a municipal project.

The airplane, which was brought to the Güzelçaml? neighborhood of the town via five trucking rigs after being dismantled in Istanbul, will be sunk in the Ku?adas? gulf on May 28.

Children's day festivities in Turkey darkened by three deaths, inclement weather

People across Turkey, particularly children, celebrated Sovereignty Day and Children?s Day on April 23, though the deaths of three people in three separate cities and unfavorable weather conditions darkened the festivities.  

A teacher died from a heart attack during the ceremonies at his school in the Black Sea province of Trabzon.
