One soldier killed as tank falls off cliff in Turkey's southeast
One soldier has been killed while another has been wounded after a tank fell off a cliff while maneuvering in the southeastern province of ??rnak's Uludere district.
Specialized Sgt. Özcan Mutlu was heavily wounded when the maneuvering tank fell off a cliff in Uludere on April 5. Mutlu was promptly brought to ??rnak Military Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Turkey approves new defense projects worth $5.9 billion: PM
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu said the country's defense industry executive committee on March 9 approved $5.9 billion in new defense projects, $4.5 billion of which will consist of domestic production.
Anka carries out first missionary flight
Anka, an unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), carried out its debut missionary flight in the eastern province of Elaz?? on Feb. 5.
Taking off from Elaz?? Airport, Anka ("Phoenix" in English) ascended to an altitude of 19,000 feet to carry out a four-hour exploration and observation flight.

Rock tombs of Elaz?? to serve tourism
The Roman-era rock tombs in the eastern province of Elaz??'s A??n district will soon be brought to light, according to District Gov. Mehmet Fatih Yak?no?lu, who said the district was not very well known despite its historical touristic features such as the Hastek Fortress, ?spir Mansion, rock tombs, mounds, the Sülük and Keban dam lakes and traditional A??n houses.

Man throws body parts of woman he killed into trash in Turkey's ?ile
A man in the Black Sea town of ?ile has confessed to killing a woman and then dismembering her body into several parts so that he could throw it into the trash.
Police had been searching for the killers of Güne? Kanak since Aug. 13, after the 35-year-old woman?s body parts were found in a landfill site in ?ile.
