Over 11 mln visit online museums amid pandemic

Around 11.5 million people visited 32 museums and historical sites in Turkey through the government's digital platform, the top culture and tourism official said on Dec. 22.

The ministry unveiled the digital portal of museums and historical sites at the end of March after the COVID-19 outbreak, which hit the tourism industry hard.

Probe launched after fire at hospital kills at least 11 COVID-19 patients

An investigation has been launched into a fire at a private hospital in the southeastern province of Gaziantep that killed at least 11 patients in a COVID-19 intensive care unit.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said the fire that occurred on Dec. 19 was caused by a high-flow oxygen therapy machine used to treat coronavirus patients.

Magnitude 4.7 earthquake jolts eastern Turkey

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake was recorded in Turkey's eastern Malatya province on Nov. 27, according to the country's disaster management agency.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 6.94 kilometers (4.3 miles) in the Pütürge district at 11:27 a.m. local time (0827GMT), the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.

Countdown for Int'l Migration Film Festival

Turkey's International Migration Film Festival will start on June 14. 

The opening and closing ceremonies of the festival will be held in a real-time 3D virtual studio which offers the closest image to a photo reality.

So for the first time in the world, an international event will meet the audience with "augmented reality."
