Black-headed penduline tit spotted in Turkey
Black-headed penduline tit, a rare bird species, has been spotted for the first time in Turkey in the eastern province of Iğdır.
The bird, known as Remiz macronyx, was found during work officials conducted in the Iğdır Aras River Bird Sanctuary as part of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry's Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks' National Ringing Program.

Air pollution blamed for 45,000 premature deaths in 2018
Air pollution caused a total of 44,617 premature deaths in 2018 in Turkey, recent research has shown.
Most fatalities due to prolonged exposure to the airborne PM2.5, known as particulate matter, occurred in the provinces of Iğdır, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, Manisa, Niğde and Burdur, said Professor Kayıhan Pala from the Uludağ University's Medical School who led the study.
Turkey extends security wall along Iran border: Interior minister
Turkey is adding 242 kilometers more to its security wall along the border with Iran in the eastern province of Van to curtail migration, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Sept. 15.
"We will add another 242 km to the 221 km we have erected so far at our borders with Iran in the east," he said at a migration board meeting.
