Rescue crews saved a trapped kitten from a squat-toilet hole in the Marmara province of Kırklareli on Sept. 7.

A local, Ramazan Gündoğdu, had taken in a mother cat and her newborn kittens in the İstasyon neighborhood of the Kırklareli province.

In the Turkish province of Kirklareli, a total of 81 illegal migrants have been captured before crossing the border illegally, the Haberler electronic edition quoted by Sega as saying.

Turkish security forces caught 47 refugees who were trying to illegally cross into Europe on July 26.       

Gendarmerie officers in the northwestern province of Kırklareli, bordering Bulgaria, detained 24 Afghan and Syrian refugees preparing to flee the country illegally, a security source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.      

Almost two-fifths of Turks who died in 2016 perished due to diseases of the circulatory system, according to a study by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK).

Some 39.8 percent of the 408,782 deaths in 2016 occurred due to circulatory diseases, followed by cancer at 19.7 percent and respiratory diseases at 11.9 percent.

Turkey put 28 new power plants into operation in February with 316.7 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, of which 94 percent came from local resources, data from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry showed on March 6.        

Turkey's current installed electricity capacity reached 78,915 MW with the newly added capacity by the end of February.        

Arven Pharmaceuticals, a Toksöz Group Company, has said it selected GE Healthcare's FlexFactory manufacturing platform to expand production capacity at its facility in the northwestern province of Kırklareli, in a statement on Feb. 2. 

A prisoner convicted of robbery allegedly stole nearly 11,000 Turkish Liras from the safe of the prison in which he was serving his sentence in the Marmara province of Kırklareli before escaping on Dec. 14, Doğan News Agency has reported

Turkish police have detained a total of 81 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in operations conducted in Istanbul, the southeastern provinces of Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa, the northwestern province of Kırklareli, and the eastern province of Erzurum.

More than 100 detention orders were on Oct. 5 issued for military and intelligence personnel over alleged links to the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, believed to have masterminded the failed July 15 coup attempt.
