First West Nile virus case of 2024 confirmed in Greece
The National Public Health Organization (EODY) announced the first case of West Nile virus in Greece this summer on Friday, noting that the virus has appeared almost annually in the country over the last 15 years, necessitating individual mosquito protection measures.

1,383 new coronavirus cases; 98 deaths
Greek health authorities announced 1,383 new cases of the coronavirus over the 24-hour period ending at 3 p.m. Saturday. They also announced 98 deaths.
Thessaloniki once again led in number of new cases (305), ahead of the Attica region and the former Larissa prefecture in central Greece (260 and 98 cases, respectively).

Rescuers find climber who fell down Mt Olympus ravine
A 58-year-old mountain climber who went missing on Thursday off the slopes of Mount Olympus was found on Friday near the village of Kalipefki, in the prefecture of Larissa, by rescue workers.
The 58-year-old, who had been with three other climbers when he disappeared, fell into a ravine some 500 meters deep, sources said.
