An explosion at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye's (TÜBİTAK) Defense Industry Research and Development Institute in the capital Ankara has resulted in the tragic death of an employee, as announced by the governor's office.

An explosion rocked the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation's (MKE) capsule factory in Ankara's Mamak district, leaving four workers injured on July 18.

Over 225,000 people have applied for the housing project, which aims to help low-income citizens own houses and tackle problems regarding property prices and rents, on the first day of its launch, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum has said.

"Applications for land and industrial workplaces will be made between Oct. 10 and Nov. 7," Kurum said.

A cave in which Hüseyin Gazi, the father of the Turkish epic hero, Battal Gazi, once lived will be opened to tourism following an order by the president.

Concrete jungle and unplanned urbanization are the reasons for floodings witnessed in various provinces, including the capital Ankara where three people died and a man went missing due to flash floods, meteorologists have said.

At least six people were injured in a catastrophic flood in Ankara.

Several neighborhoods have suffered, particularly the situation in the municipality of Mamak is critical, where water dragged parked cars and even small trucks.

A group of protesters have attempted to march Turkey's new presidential palace to mark the shooting of 15-year-old Gezi protests victim Berkin Elvan, but the police prevented the demonstration by using tear gas.
