New findings show that the ancient city of Claros, the world's oldest prophecy center located in the eastern province of İzmir, has been actively used more than known, until the end of the 8th century, an adviser for the excavation team has said.

Until today, Claros was known to be "abandoned with the beginning of the rise of Christianity."

The İzmir Archeology Museum has put on display a 5,000-year-old historical limestone stele, depicting the silhouette of a praying person, and a 4,000-year-old terracotta pottery with a human face on it, belonging to the Early Bronze Age.

After the wreckage of the buildings destroyed in the İzmir earthquake on Oct. 30 last year was moved to another location, teams have begun a search to collect the personal belongings of the earthquake victims to safely return them to their rightful owners.

A Turkish businessman, who was arrested after an investigation into the July 15 failed coup attempt that was believed to have been orchestrated by the Gülen movement, died on Nov. 29 in prison in the western province of İzmir, Doğan News Agency has reported.
