Pioneering Turkish Sumerologist dies aged 110
Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, an internationally acclaimed Turkish scholar on ancient Sumeria, died on Nov. 17 at the age of 110.
Çiğ, born in 1914, passed away in intensive care at a hospital in the southern province of Mersin's Mezitli district.

Türkiye aims for 7,200 MW in nuclear power by 2035: Energy minister
Türkiye aims to have 7,200 megawatts of nuclear power by 2035, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said, adding that without nuclear energy the country is unlikely to meet its 2052 net-zero target.
"We need to build two more reactors until 2035 in order to achieve this target," he told daily Milliyet.

House sales in Türkiye up by 16 percent in July
Residential property sales in Türkiye jumped 16 percent from a year ago in July, according to latest data released on Tuesday while sales to foreigners increased by 16.1 percent.
A total of 127,088 houses changed hands last month, up from 109,548 in July 2023, a Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) report showed.

Türkiye inaugurates Çukurova International Airport
Türkiye's 58th airport, Çukurova International Airport, was inaugurated in the southern province of Mersin on Aug. 10, with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In addition to passenger transportation, the airport will also have a multiplier effect on the exports of the region, Erdoğan said, noting that it will create 3,000 jobs.

Anamur ferry begins carrying passengers to Turkish Cyprus
