Bursa unveils country’s first ‘Dark Sky Park’

Türkiye's inaugural Dark Sky Park has officially opened in the western province of Bursa, catering to astronomy enthusiasts, nature lovers, photographers and anyone seeking to reconnect with the night sky.

The park, located in the Başalan Plateau of the İnegöl district, stands out in providing a space free from the overwhelming effects of light pollution.

Prominent artist describes controversial sculptures as ‘Turkish pop art’

A prominent Turkish artist has defended the much-debated sculptures and statues that mostly stand at the entrances of various provinces depicting things those provinces are known for, saying that they were "examples of Turkish pop art."

"I admire them very much," Gürkan Coşkun, also known as "Komet," tweeted on July 27.

Turkey’s first Dark Sky Park to open in Bursa

The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which has initiated works to become a member of the International Dark Sky Association, will set up Turkey's first Dark Sky Park in the city. Milky Way observation activities, educational activities and sports activities will be organized in the Dark Sky Park, which has only 92 examples in the world.
