Households in Ankara have highest equalized disposable income in Turkey: Survey

The capital Ankara again had the highest annual average equalized household disposable income in Turkey in 2016 at 26,486 Turkish Liras, followed by Istanbul and the Aegean province of İzmir, according to the results of an official survey published on Sept. 25. 

152 people injured due to barrel filled with toxic gas in southeastern Turkey

A total of 152 people were injured due to a chlorine gas leak in Turkey's southeastern province of Siirt on Sept. 11, according to a statement from the Health Ministry.

The ministry stated 60 of the injured people were treated by the Turkish Red Crescent in a tent, as 92 people were hospitalized.

Soldier wounded in PKK car bomb attack in Turkey's Diyarbakır

One soldier was wounded in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) car bomb attack in the Lice district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Sept. 10, Doğan News Agency has reported.

A PKK militant inside a bomb-laden car refused to obey stop calls by gendarmerie forces at the Duru Gendarmerie Military Post some 15 kilometers away from the district at around 6 a.m.

600 kg of explosives belonging to PKK found in Turkey's Diyarbakır

Police found explosive set-ups prepared with 600 kilograms of ammonium nitrate belonging to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır's Sur district early on Aug. 30. 

The explosives were buried in the ground in three barrels on the side of the Dicle River. 

Two civilians killed in PKK attack in Turkey's southeast

Two civilians were killed on Aug. 29 in an attack staged by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Çınar district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The militants detonated a hand-made explosive placed on the Diyarbakır-Batman highway during the passing of two armored military vehicles at around 12.30 p.m.

3 PKK militants reportedly behind assassination attempt against district head killed in Turkey's southeast

Three outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants suspected to have been behind an assassination attempt against a district head on July 7 and the killing of a district gendarmerie station commander on July 24, were killed in an air strike in the southeastern province of Siirt on Aug. 11, the Siirt Governor's Office has said in a statement. 

One soldier killed, two wounded in PKK attack in Turkey's Siirt

One soldier was killed and another two were injured on July 24 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack in the Baykan district of the southeastern province of Siirt, Doğan News Agency has reported.

PKK militants opened fire on a civilian-plated vehicle carrying soldiers in the morning hours with long-barreled weapons.

6 PKK militants killed in Turkey's Siirt

A total of six outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were killed in the southeastern province of Siirt, said a Turkish General Staff statement on July 22. 

The statement said PKK militants opened harassing fire on Turkish soldiers in the rural area of Siirt's Pervari district early on July 21, while the soldiers were passing through the area. 

PKK attacks district governor's vehicle in Turkey's Siirt, no casualties reported

Outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants detonated an explosive during the passage of a district governor's vehicle in the southeastern province of Siirt early on July 7.

Siirt's Baykan district's governor, Mehmet Kocabey, who is also an acting mayor, departed to visit a gendarmerie post in the Yarımca district when a hand-made explosive was detonated by PKK militants.
