Halil Serkan Öz, an award-winning mathematics teacher at Termal Science High School in the Yalova province, was harshly criticized by Governor Selim Cebiro?lu in front of his students on March 27.

Monument to commemorate Yalova's dead Japanese engineer
A monument will be built in the western province of Yalova in memory of a Japanese engineer who committed suicide after holding himself responsible for a recent accident at the ?zmit-Yalova bridge construction site.
Kishi Ryoichi, 51, who was working on the bridge connecting ?zmit and Yalova, was found dead on March 23, while a suicide note found on the scene.
House sales increase upon lower loan rates
Property sales increased by 15 percent from the same month of the previous year with the help of a decrease in the interest rates on housing loans, said the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K) in a statement on March 24.
The surge came after a drop of 1.7 percent in January.

Turkey exports ships, yachts worth around $1.3 billion
Turkey's ship and yacht exports reached $1.3 billion in 2014, a 10.1 percent increase over the previous year, according to figures compiled from the Turkish Exporters' Assembly database.
Some 72 percent of the exports were made from Istanbul and 18 percent from the northwestern province of Yalova.
Western Turkish municipality fells trees for overpass, sends opposition into soul-searching
The municipality of Yalova has caused an uproar after cutting over 150 trees in the city center for the construction of an overpass Nov. 27.
The decision has sent the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), which won the municipality in the March 30 local elections after a very tight race that included a vote recount, into soul-searching over its urban policies.
AKP loses two provinces in local election reruns
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lost out in two provinces, but won in five of 13 district municipalities, in partial reruns of the June 1 local polls.
Main opposition Republican Peopleâs Party (CHP) candidate Vefa Salman won in the northwestern province of Yalova with 29,227 votes, 228 ahead of the AKPâs candidate, Yakup Koçal.
